The next meeting of the League of Women Voters of Manistee County will
be Monday evening, April 3, 2006 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at
The Manor in Bear Lake, on the corner of Main and Smith.
At the last meeting, at which Anne Magoun, current State President of
LWV was the guest speaker, the group decided that having a set date
(the 1st Monday of the month), time (7 p.m.), and place (Bear Lake
Manor) would be helpful in these early stages. Later, quarterly
meetings may be more appropriate and locations will vary. And, of
course, The Manor is such an elegant and comfortable location.
The agenda for the upcoming April 3 meeting will include the following:
1. get acquainted time
2. confirm selection of meeting dates/time/location
3. develop membership campaign strategy
4. select 1-2 projects on which to direct our immediate attention.
Projects that elicited the most
interest at our last meeting were:
preparing "They Represent You" bulletins for Manistee County voters;
holding "Meet Your Local Candidates" seminar(s) for the upcoming
elections;
and organizing LWV observers to attend local government council
meetings
Bring Your IDEAS, for projects and Bring a FRIEND.
LWV Membership applications will be available at the April 3 meeting.
Or, you may become immediate members online at www.lwvmi.org.
If you have any questions or need to contact us prior to Monday's
meeting, please call Jackie at 864-5030 or Dendra at 864-2686.
